Devils Cool off Flyers

You hate to see it happen, but you hate to see it happen even more when it is the New Jersey Devils. The Devils defeated the Flyers tonight 3-0 in a game that was more like the “old” NHL than the “new” NHL. Putting up very little offense but playing solid defense, the Devils looked like the Devils of old. Martin Brodeur stopped all 22 shots he faced and recorded his 77th shut out of his career.

The Devils mustered just 16 shots on goal but slipped three of those by Antero Niitymaki. The loss brings the Flyers to 7-1-1 on their current 11 game road trip. The Devils have not lost thus far in 2006. The next time the two teams meet up will not be until March 1st.
