In reference to the classified….
Philadelphia, the world’s latest hotspot of the world, is famous for gossip. Just pick up a newspaper, browse through the blogs, or turn on the TV. In the midst of good deeds, crime, devastation, and worldly events, T.O. was one of the most written and talked about figures.
As ridiculous as I find the gossip to be (and, believe me, I complain about it a lot… There have to be more important things going on in the world than some local politician visiting a school or some celebrity signing autographs in Tower Records…), I get caught up in the hype. And, the hype is closer to home. I’m interested in the possibility of being the gossip.
As a Philadelphian, I like to browse through the local papers when I get a chance. I like my dose of the Philadelphia Metro, News Gleaner, Northeast Breeze, Philadelphia Weekly, The City Paper, and the Knight Ridder publications. I’m ashamed to admit that one of my favorite sections of any newspaper is Philadelphia’s City Paper’s “I Love You, I Hate You” section.
“I Love You, I Hate You” is a spot where readers spout off their happiness and distraught – more often distraught. I enjoy browsing through and trying to figure out if any of those messages are meant for me. Could I possibly be that short girl that so and so saw walking past 5th and Chestnut? Could I be the jerk who walked in front of traffic at 39th and Market? Was I the person unknowingly sending mixed signals to another customer at the Standard Tap?
If you have ever been published – or have been written about – in “I Love You, I Hate You,” please send me your comments. I’d love to hear your tales – especially if you are Cheetah. Cheetah was a recurring name in the “I Love You, I Hate You” section a few years back. That’s one Philadelphian “pseudo celeb” I’d love to interview.
