My Interview with Dorothy Krysiuk
![]() |
Ask anybody with a morning commute in the city who Dorothy Krysiuk is, and they’re likely to know. Krysiuk — the bubbly, witty, cute, chic traffic gal with Fox 29’s Good Day Philadelphia — has become as much a staple of our mornings as breakfast, the paper, or getting cut off on I-95. Dorothy helps us untangle our jams and our tie-ups every day. And for that, we are very grateful. I sat down with Dorothy for a few minutes this afternoon to talk about her life, the Internet, Poland, and broadcasting to the masses each morning.

My friend Andrew Baron was also born in Poland and came to the US around the same time as you. Do you know him?!? Also — in what town were you born?
Wow. Lots of questions. Do you think all of us poles know one another or something? His name doesn’t ring a bell, but I’m sure he’s a nice person.
Did you have a hero or inspiration while growing up? Who was it?
Wonder Woman, Buck Rogers, and the smurfs.
I loved the smurfs! Did you know you have a yahoo group!?!
I suppose it’s some sort of compliment that someone went to the trouble of creating this “in my honor”. But it certainly doesn’t take much to be mentioned somewhere on the internet these days…
I’m not a member, are you?
Am I a member? What was that saying about never wanting to be part of a club that would actually have you as a member?
Good point. Speaking of getting on the Internet, You are a multiple time nominee for Philadelphia’s P-R-O-J-E-C-T.com “The Women We Love” site. Did you even know that? Can you comment on this picture from your days at WCAU (I think)?
Never heard of this. Don’t know to which picture you are referring.

Is that a picture taken from the tv? Weird.
I read on your Fox 29 profile that you are 28, yet it says your final year at Temple was in 1996. That means either your profile wasn’t updated…
It’s my Picture of Dorian Gray. The moment FOX hires someone to keep track of these things I’m in trouble.

..Or maybe you graduated college when you were 18 or 19? Were you a prodigy? Are you as smart as you are witty?
This in no way implies that I’m NOT a prodigy.
Do you love it when “no-namers” flatter you?
I suppose I’ll take it where I can get it.
Could you throw a wink at myself and the Philadelphia Metroblog readers during one of your 7:23 AM broadcasts? Could you let us know when?
How about a yawn? Will that have the same effect?

Nice Work Brady!! And thanks Dorothy for being the first “real” interview on Philly Blog. I will now take a look over at Fox in the morning to see what it’s like. I have always been an NBCer but hey this might get me to switch. Take note other TV People. It’s also nice to see that these tv people have personality. Was this a phone interview?
Nice job Brady.

Philadelphia pseudo-celebrity at 10 o’clock!
Hey kids! You ever see My Date With Drew? No? Oh. Well, it was a movie made by a local guy — he was from Evesham, N.J., but now lives in L.A. — Brian Herzlinger, who won $1100 on a game show pilot and spent 30 days trying to get a date with Drew Barrymore.
He eventually gets a date and Drew is nice and blah blah blah. It’s not a good movie, but for $1100, it’s a fun story at least.
Anyway, another local guy — Brady Hicks — is spending 30 days trying to get an interview with Dorothy Krysiuk, morning traffic reporter for Fox 29.
Some of you might mock this. But, to me, this is the best example of the Philadelphia pseudo-celebrity I’ve ever seen. A guy in L.A. has 30 days and $1100 to meet Drew Barrymore, legit movie actress. A guy in Philly? Well, 30 days and the cost of his internet connection to meet Dorothy Krysiuk.
Does it get any more Philly than that?
Dear Brady,
You are obsessed. We still like you.
