Happy New Year…Now get out.

First I want to wish everyone a happy new year!! I am now back on my regular schedule after taking a few weeks vacation.

Second how would you like to hear the above at a party you paid $100 dollars or more to get into for New Years? Well the entire party at the Art Alliance, which has always looked super swanky when I walk by, was asked to leave around 11pm New Year Eve!! The party was oversold and some reports said that the bar was 6 deep the entire night. Guests were promised top shelf vodka, an open bar from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m, but the partiers were told at 9:30 that the bar would be closed!! Jeez, I’d be a little pissed myself. At 10:30 the cops were called to escort the angry mob out of the building.

So what happened? NBC10.com said that “The event planner says the restaurant was not prepared to accommodate the crowd estimated at 700 people. The restaurant says its contact only called for 325 guests.”

I’m guessing the promoter dropped the ball on this one, unless there was some crazy mixup, but if you are going to throw a party and offer open bar, you really should be able to accomodate. And if you only had enough for 350 people, by my math, you’d think the bar would last longer than 30 minutes. Odd. I bet those people were very very angry.
