Measuring the length of Center City with my own two feet

Yesterday afternoon I was in a bit of a grumpy mood, so when my friends called and asked me to meet them for dinner at Konak, followed by a movie, I knew I needed to go. But before I could handle being around people, I had to shake off my nastiness. So I declined their offer of a ride and chose to walk from my apartment, near Rittenhouse Square, to the restaurant at 3rd and Vine. It’s been a really long time since I set off and walked what amounts to the length of Center City. People were out in droves, encouraged by the temperate weather, and ready to have an active Saturday night. It was amazing, because in the 40 minutes it took me to walk through about five and a half neighborhoods, I actually was able to let go of my grump and work up an appetite for dinner.

The food at Konak was terrific. There were four of us, and we ordered four appetizers, the grilled combo platter and a large salad. We were completely stuffed by the time we left, and spent about $15 person (without drinks). The shaved lamb was so wonderful, I was still thinking about it well into the movie. I would definitely recommend it.
