R5 Production shows this weekend
Are you looking to hear some good music this week? You should be at the North Star tonight to hear Eric Hutchinson, but if he doesn’t do it for you, here’s some other shows to check out.
Friday November 11th 8:00pm
BROADCAST, GRAVENHURST and TRA LA LA
At The First Unitarian Church Sanctuary (2125 Chestnut Street In Philadelphia, PA)
All Ages / $12 / Tickets On Sale At Spaceboy Music & R5Productions.com
BROADCAST = the pastiche of groovy space-age bachelor pad couture with timeless pop songsmithery or as we like to simple say - STEREOLAB with balls. Hailing from the same country (the UK) - Broadcast have released two of our favorite records in the last two years and it’s some of the best stuff we had the fortune of putting our ear to. And while groups like Stereolab and Stereo Total have been sure to leave no Francophilic stone unturned, Birmingham, England’s Broadcast have picked the road less traveled, which of course has made all the difference. The group returns, now stripped down in most respects to the duo of principal writers Trish Keenan and James Cargill on the recent full length on Warp Records. Broadcast will be playing both old and new songs this evening (and yes it will be with a full band).
Saturday Novemember 12th 7:00pm
SAGE FRANCIS, SOLE, MC SQUARE and more
At The Trocadero Theater (1003 Arch Street In Philadelphia, PA)
All Ages - 21+ To Drink / $15 adv - $17 day of show / Tickets On Sale At Spaceboy Music, R5Productions.com,
Troc Box Office and All Ticketmaster Locations
SAGE FRANCIS = the only mc who could play at the church for two hours and still keep the crowd interested (and in the building!) . After 3 packed sold out shows at the church, SAGE is picking up his game and headed for the big time at The Trocadero Theater. The former slam poet champion and award winning scriible jam battlee mc has taken the path less traveled by tackling such issues as Clear Channel (he was behind the “fuck clear channel tour”), creating guest spots not for fellow MCs but for the likes of Will Oldham and now has gone on a mission to inform people of corporate misbehavior with the Knowmore.Org tour which informs the people (of all ages) of recent troublesome activity with companies big and small.
Sunday November 13th 2:30pm *matinee* (starts right at 2:30)
BLACKLISTED, DOWN TO NOTHING, SET TO EXPLODE, THIS IS HELL
At The First Unitarian Church (2125 Chestnut Street In Philadelphia, PA)
All Ages / $8 / Tickets On Sale At Spaceboy Music & R5Productions.com
BLACKLISTED = One of Philadelphia’s biggest and most promising bands with multiple US and European tours under their belt. Whether it’s with their infectious mosh parts, their punk/hardcore urgency, or their uniquely powerful lyrics, Philadelphia’s Blacklisted true grit will move you unlike any other present day hardcore band. Blacklisted pick up the torch that contemporary legends AMERICAN NIGHTMARE once proudly carried. Merging violence, honesty, and emotional outpouring into one untamable and inspiring hardcore machine. Whats being described around the country as “Philadelphia Sound”. This is the official record release show for their brand new cd on Deathwish Recordings
