I think you are being overly critical of the director, whoever he or she is. Certainly a 37 year old woman who feels she is going to be a spinster, there are probably worse things in the world than wanting children.
And the scene in the kitchen…they took a snipit of the cleanup. In the background you can see the men shuffling and consolidating plates and gathering the trash into another plate. I for one am outraged!?! Couldn’t we have gotten some sort of a split-screen so we could hear what the men were talking about while doing the manly part of the cleanup?
