No Longer Kings of the Hill
The NFC East has been the Philadelphia Eagles playground for the last four years. No other team was better in the division. For that matter a case could be made that the entire conference has been dominated by the team for the last four years. Coming in to this season hopes were high that the Eagles would finally do it; Get back to the Super Bowl and actually win. Well after another blow out loss and their fourth straight lackluster performance the naysayers have arrived.
I love the Philadelphia sports scene. Even though I am not an Eagles fan I love the craziness that those fans bring to the sport. I also love that a large majority of them are bandwagon jumpers and that they only like the team because well everyone else does and they can spell the name of the team. So for the last three days I have been in heaven. Listening to 610 WIP has been like listening to a train wreck. Everything from

This season is far from over. The primary concern is hardly the Eagles record — they’re only one game back — or that other teams have figured out the Eagles — they haven’t.
The Eagles don’t need a change at their core, they need a change in McNabb’s groin-area. McNabb’s always been one of the top running QBs in the league and had developed into a dangerout pocket passer as well, but now he can’t run and it hurts when he throws.
The thinking is that he can become 100% with surgery, but his injury becomes more serious, the Eagles will have a much more troubling long-term outlook.
You give up over thirty points twice in three games you have more than problems at your QB position, you have problems at your core. McNaab is hurt but consensus is that surgery “could” make him 100% but he most likely wouldn’t come back the rest of the season. The injury to Todd Pinkston has hurt more than thought because there is no valid second receiver. The lack of a running game is disastrous. With three divisional games coming up this season could be over real soon. You’re right, the season isn’t over yet but if they finish anything more than 2 games over .500 I’ll be highly surprised.
