Fall Favorites

Last weekend, summer took it’s final gasping breaths and surrendered to fall. Now that we are firmly settled into autumn, with it’s rainy chilly days as well as it’s crisp, bright ones, I find myself excited by all the things that fall has to offer.

I love the changing leaves and when they lay in piles on the sidewalk, perfect for shuffling through.

Fresh, new apples, as opposed to the ones that have been sitting storage all summer, getting increasingly mealy.

Mini pumpkins and roasted root vegetables.

The return of down vests and coats.

Lazy Sundays that encourage couch-sitting and movie-watching.

What’s your fall favorite?

I love the crisp, cool sunny days. I like rose cheeks and chilly noses. Also, the change from summer to fall recalls one of my favorite songs (although my favorite rendition is an instrumental by Cannonball Adderly w/ Miles Davis):

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
    And soon I
