Hand Drawn Noodle House–More than just soup

The primary restaurant review in the Philadelphia Weekly today is for the Lan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle House and I have to throw my own $.02 in about this place. I found it about two years ago through an article in one of the weeklies, although just now when I went back to look for the article, I couldn’t find it.

I talked my ex-boyfriend into going there for our Valentine’s Day dinner a couple of years ago, and while I loved the place, he wasn’t so hot on it (I think that our take on the restaurant may have been symbolic of our entire relationship).

I’ve been back a couple times over the years, and I still love it. I’ve always been a noodle girl, the more starch the better, and this place fits that bill. My two favorite dishes are the peanut butter noodles and a savory, crumbly beef and noodle mess that is just so yummy.

I’ve wanted to take my girlfriend to this place for a little while. Are peanut butter noodles as disgusting as they sound, because I am picturing it actually tastes awesome. Also, do they serve regular chinese cuisine as well?

The peanut butter noodles are so amazingly good. I remember fighting my ex for them. They have a limited menu of things not-noodle, but not a full menu of such stuff. I’m remembering some terrific chinese greens, which you need when you’ve just eaten that much noodle.
