Life without Stoplights

Have you ever played the game frogger? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play in a real life version? Well now you can at 18th and JFK where the stoplights have been out for the past 2 days. I walk through this intersection in the morning and evening and guess how the Philly drivers respond to the fact that the stoplights are out….They only stop when someone or something is directly in front of them! I saw many people crossing the streets honding their hands high in the air, like they were being robbed, trying to let the cars know they were there. When I crossed last night I felt like I should just close my eyes and hope. Normally, well I should say “Legally,” you are supposed to treat this as a stop sign, so far it looks like the drivers here never knew that was the law. So wish me luck on my walk home tonight…
