A nice way to help out

Right outside Northeast Philly, on Street Road in Bensalem, is the Great American Pub. I love their potato soup. I love most of their appetizers. Potato skins, the spinach & artichoke dip . . . I love them so much I haven’t really ventured into their entree page yet. I think I did once or twice, but damn that potato soup is the bomb!

So imagine my excitement when my friend Karen (who works there but I think is now at Pitt) informs me that this Thursday, September 8, the owner will be donating 100% of the money earned that day to hurricane relief.

That’s right, for every dollar he makes, he’ll be giving — well, all of it — to hurricane relief.

Now if that ain’t a good cause, I dunno what is. You get to eat good food with a pint of Guinness beside you, AND you get to help with the efforts in Louisiana.

And in my opinion, having a hefty bowl of potato soup — a breadbowl, I mean — and eating an 8oz 100% angus burger and having a good time with friends and knowing your money will go to those who need it the most is a much better way to spend the evening than arguing over who is to blame for this LA Fiasco.

Jay V out.
