Heartbreaker in Ardmore
Out in Ardmore, there is a HUGE eminent domain fight right now. Right this very second. And the Save Ardmore Coalition has been posting a lot of really awesome member testimony and some great thoughts as well as campaign updates at their blog.
Today, this bit made the front page of Philly Future, and I want to pass it on. The businesses and houses that will be destroyed are not just “random people”. These are people who have lived and worked here in Pennsylvania for a long ass time. People who have given a lot to our state and the communities in and around Philadelphia.
My name is Eni Foo. I am the owner of Hunan Restaurant in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, which is under the threat of eminent domain by the Lower Merion Township. I was born in China in 1940 and grew up in Taiwan. In 1963, Princeton University accepted me as a graduate student. I studied extremely hard, and graduated in 1967 with a PhD degree in physics. After my graduation, I taught physics at several universities.
In 1963, my parents came to the States to live with my wife Betty and I after their retirement. In order to keep my parents occupied, we helped them to open a Chinese restaurant called Hunan in Wayne. It was an instant success and customs loved my mother
