I’m pretty sure it’s god

Marathon Grill that is.

Since I moved directly into Philadelphia a year ago, Marathon Grill has been the place I bug everyone to go to. The beer isn’t too expensive, the potato salad is king, and the prices aren’t too bad. Plus the chicks who work there are always really nice….both in looks and manners. Did I mention they’re usually blasting House music at their locations and even have DJs late night on Saturdays?

Their locations are probably some of the best too. The one closest to me is the one on 40th and Walnut in University City, then there are a slew of others in Center City. If you haven’t gotten fat there already, go do it as soon as possible.

For a local chain, I guess Marathon is ok.
It’s funny that I consider Marathon to be so normal and just “part of my life”, but my friends from NE Philly know nothing about Marathon.

I’ve never forgiven Marathon for taking over Diner on the Square (classic 24/7 diner food right off Rittenhouse Square, with its classic neon Esso sign and everything). My and my gang’s favorite locale for 2 AM breakfast (after drinking all night) devolved into this shishi “Marathon on the Square” that no longer carried scrambled eggs unless you wanted a porcini mushroom omellette, and no longer carried burgers unless you wanted some $10 monstrosity with cranberry walnut garnish.

I have sometimes gone to Marathon (when dining out with a friend who loves the place), but always somewhat begrudgingly. And NEVER to the RittSquare location. (What can I say? Some things are worth holding a grudge for.)
