Mutlu and more

There are a couple of great shows happening this weekend that I want to call some attention to. The first is Mutlu tonight at the Tin Angel at 9 pm for $10. If you haven’t been, the Tin Angel is a great little venue, cozy with good acoustics. Mutlu is a local Philly artists, a young guy out of Penn who is so amazing that Amos Lee has grabbed him as his opening act for his upcoming tour. I was out playing frisbee golf with some friends a couple of weeks ago in Fairmount Park and we ran into him, he is truly a local artist. I think it must have been kind of a kick for him to be recognized like that, too.

The other fun music event is Patty Griffin, Sunday night at 7 pm at Upper Merion Parks and Rec “Concert Under the Stars” series. It’s a bit of a haul for those who live in Center City, but it will be a terrific, cheap show. Admission is $10, with those under 16 and over 62 getting in for free. The venue is a big grassy lawn, so bring blankets/tarps/chairs for sitting and a picnic for eating.
