Day 3 of fireworks

I thought I already covered that I love fireworks. And I do.

Being from Mississippi (where damn near everything is legal or tolerated), I’ve grown up shooting stuff. My very own fireworks. I can’t remember a New Year’s Day or July 4 that’s gone by without a few roman candles and some bottle rockets from me. (My brothers usually create more hell than I care to admit.) This year is a little off, because I can’t really shoot stuff in Philly. Cory informed me (by way of severe mockery) that ground-based fireworks are legal now (OMG), but ground-based fireworks don’t cut it.

So after taking in the show the Phillies put on the evening of July 1, I decided to just see some every day. Why the hell not? I’m obsessed with big explosions and fire. And I can see them for free!

Last night, the Hannah and I waltzed up to Penn’s Landing last night for some fireworks. That’s my July 2 fireworks. And OMG, LOVE. Somehow, she and I got really good seats and were able to take in the “’splody, boomy things” (her wording) up close and personal. My Wawa sandwich and I were very content. I’d also like to send some love to Sunoco for indulging my passion for fireworks. (Just to note, the cute little soundtrack they were supposed to be playing? Yeah. That didn’t work, but I still got 20 solid minutes of explosions.)

Tonight, on my uber-roof deck, I caught three different shows in Camden. To be honest, I’m not sure what was going on; but across the river, there were three professional shows really close to each other. (Anyone know what that was? City fireworks? Were they intentional?) That’s my July 3 fireworks.

For my July 4 show, I’ve been promised the mini-show up in Lawndale. Cory is just so in love with the idea of showing me a “cute little neighborhood show” that I have to. How could I resist? (I really can’t. I’ve been promised watermelon, explosions, and National Treasure.)

That’s the fireworks report so far. One more day, and I may as of yet blow my hand off or light my arm hair on fire.
