Live8 in my hood

Hello to all on this new Philly Blog! It’s been a long time coming and now I feel like I am part of a real city ;)

So speaking of Live8, I found out this morning that I will be trapped in my nabe, unable to leave as the lockdown moved north. Orginally the border north was Fairmount, but alas it’s all the way up to poplar, which means unless I show proof I live here, I won’t be allowed to drive in.

But who am I kidding? With a million folks in my backyard I am not driving anywhere. Instead I may be the only one from my ‘hood at the concert, so I will let everyone know how unlucky those of you are that miss it :) Nah I’ll be good.

I am not sure about the show, but I have friends coming down to see the show and to see me, in that order. So I figure if I want to see them, I have to go to the show. I am actually attempting to go early as I want to see Pink Floyd on the jumbotrons, and play where’s wa.

Oh and did anyone else see that Stephen Starr, Philadelphia restaurateur is giving away $20,000 worth of gourmet food for the celebrities. The menu includes “includes crispy calamari salad, char-grilled dry aged beef, chicken and ginger dumplings, salmon sushi and tea-smoked spare ribs.”

Yay for feeding the starving African Children!!

Oh Steven Starr says “he doesn’t see a contradiction that his staff is giving high-end food to celebrities who will contribute to awareness of world leaders.”

Crazy.

Oh Well, I’ll take some pics this weekend, I am excited.
